Community guidelines

Up To Something is a place for ideas in progress and the people who might help them happen. Most of this comes down to being decent to each other.

Be honest about where you are

Early ideas are welcome. So are half-formed ones. Tell people where things actually stand, and skip the inflated traction, borrowed credibility, or promises you can't keep. "I'm still figuring this out" is a perfectly good place to start.

Reaching out is an invitation

When someone reaches out, they're offering, not signing up for a job. People get busy, projects go quiet, and sometimes someone decides it isn't for them. Respect a quiet inbox, a paused project, or a no.

Small help counts

A bit of feedback, a quick thought, or an intro to the right person can go a long way. If you're hoping for real work (designing, building, a big chunk of someone's time), say so up front and be clear about what you're offering in return. Don't dress up an unpaid job as a quick favor.

Be kind

No harassment, threats, hate, scams, spam, or pretending to be someone you're not. Nothing illegal. And don't share anyone else's private information.

Remember what's public

Anything you put on a project can be read by anyone. Leave out private messages, home addresses, and anything confidential unless you have permission.

If something feels wrong

Use Report on any project, account, or message that worries you. Reporting a message lets me see that one message so I can look into it. It doesn't open up the rest of your conversations.

You can also block someone. Neither of you can send the other new messages, and you'll stop getting notifications about them. Your past conversation stays there if you need it.

When needed, I may hide reported content, restrict an account, or pause someone's projects or messages. Up To Something is run by one person right now, so I'll do my best to respond quickly, but I can't promise instant replies or that the site will never go down.
